The management by objective （MBO） is effective in improving the management of businesses and projects, and ensuring the completion of company objectives. This paper studies the implementation of the management by objective in traffic engineering projects. The evaluation indexes for traffic engineering projects are set through target decomposition. The system of performance evaluation and information processing and the mechanism of feedback are set up. The progresses of the projects are monitored throughout to ensure that every thing goes smoothly. Practical implementation shows that the objective management system is feasible and effect.
