海峡西岸经济区发展战略是我国区域经济差异化发展战略的重要组成部分。2009年以来,海峡西岸经济区在经济综合实力、特色产业集群以及对台合作与交流等方面成就斐然。未来的海峡西岸经济区将会继续推进海西集中区建设与福莆宁、厦漳泉、汕潮揭同城化发展,在环太平洋区域的新丝绸之路建设中将发挥更加重要的作用,但在发展中也要着力解决跨省区合作机制的完善、自贸区设立、产业融合发展、城市群与城镇化建设等问题。

Development strategy of the Economic Zone on the west side of the straits is an important part of China＇s regional economic development strategy. Since 2009, the Economic Zone has made great achievements in comprehensive economic strength, characteristics industrial clusters and other aspects of cooperation and exchanges with Taiwan. In the Future, the Economic Zone will continue to promote the construction of West Taiwan Strait Economic Zone and integration of the city developments of ＂Fuzhou-Putian-Ningde cities＂, ＂Xiamen-Zhangzhou-Quanzhou cities＂ and ＂Shantou-Chaozhou-Jieyang cities＂. It will play a more important role in the construction of the new Silk Road around the Pacific Rim region. In the development of the Economic Zone, we should solve the problems such as improving the inter provincial cooperation mechanism, establishing of the FIA, fusion of industry and promoting the urbanization.
