摘要
邹代钧(1854—1908)是中国近代地理学的倡导者和奠基人之一。他曾随刘瑞芬出使英俄(1886—1889),学习西方测绘理论和方法。1895年在武昌创办了中国地理学的最早组织——舆地学会,该组织出版了大量用西法测绘的高质量的中外地图,这些图在十九世纪末、二十世纪初广为流传,影响较大。他还撰写了大量的世界各国地理志和边防地理著作。本文主要介绍他的生平和学术成就,研究他对中国近代地理学发展的贡献。
Zou Daijun (1854—1908) was one of the advocators and founders of modern Chinese geography. As a member of the entourage of the embassador Liu Ruifen, he stayed in England and Russia for three years, and studied by himself modern cartography there. In 1895, he founded the first geographical organization in China——Yu Di Xue Hui (The Chinese Association of Geography) in Wuchang. He compiled and published many maps of the world, introduced modern cartographical theories from the west. His maps were widely used and had a great influence at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century in China. Besides, he also wrote many works on comprehensive geography of the world and frontier geography. This paper mainly deals with his life, acadamic achievements and his contributions to the development of modern Chinese geography.
