Polymerization of vinylene carbonate gave colourless polymers with high molecular weights. Films and powders of polyhydroxymethylene were obtained by hydrolysis of polyvinylene carbonate. Mechanism of degradation of polyvinylene carbonate in acetone and DMF was studied.
