本文对海台及其性质作了初步分析,它具有相对平静或非线性的磁场,一般为无震区,其地壳明显厚于大洋盆地,并具洋陆地壳间的某种过渡性.

Submarine plateau, with its particular topographic form, is a tectonic unit in seas. lts irregular form, as one whole body, is dearly higher than ne-arby seafloor. It has an uneven distribution, mostly developing in the west part of each ocean, especially in the West Pacific Ocean. It has relatiyely st-able or unlinear magnetic fields, and is usually in nonseismic region. The crust of submarine plateau is evidently thicker than that of an ocean basin and belongs to a transitional type from Continental crust to oceanic one. Most of submarine plateaus may be fragments or remains of Continental crust, some are products of deyeloped and reworked oceanic crust. Submarine plateau is still a difficult point in geotectonic studies.
