A research on the largest Lyapunov exponent of BAEP time series

The time series of brainstem auditory evoked potential (BAEP) is reconstructed by the technique of two-dimensional time delay. An improved algorithm based ow Wolf's algorithm is used to calculate the largest Lyapunov exponent (LLE) of the reconstructed BAEP time series for normal people and patients who have some auditory hindrance. The results indicate LLE can't expose more dynamical information about neural systems of human being except the structural difference of different parts of brain. The numerical simulation of Lorenz equations shows our algorithm is robust. Therefore, LLE can't be taken as a criterion of clinical diagnosis.
