生存与发展是推动教育的两种基本力量。从教育的起源和实质看 ,教育是促进人类生存和发展的重要手段。自从学校教育产生后 ,生存与发展教育发生了变异。未来的教育是生存和发展并重的教育。本文试图从中国历史上教育在人类生存与发展中的作用来反思我国当今的教育改革 。

Survival and development are two basic forces propelling education forward. From the view of the origin and nature of education, education can be well taken as one of the most important means of promoting the survival and development of human beings. Since the establishment of school education, the survival and development education has witnessed variations. The future education will be characterized,by emphases on both survival and development. This article,by reviewing the role of education in survival and development in the history of China, presents a re examination of the current educational reform in China. The forecast concerning the future of education has been made, too.
