The article discusses some tentative plans designed bythe Gansu Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources to invigorate itsprospecting units by opening to the outside world, with an analysis of inits own deficiencies as compared with other provinces and the opportunitiesit might face in such a move. It also demonstrates the opening strategyadopted by the bureau.
