00 1年 ,厦门特区发展将面临诸多的机遇和挑战。为了促进发展 ,厦门市应该 :积极推进产业结构优化 ,提高经济素质和效益 ;加强国企的战略性调整 ,发挥国企的骨干作用 ;加快岛外区域发展 ,推进农村工业化和城市化进程 ;抓紧招商引资 ,增强发展后劲 ;扩大内需 ,促进消费 ,较快地提高城乡居民生活水平 ;积极利用加入WTO的契机 ,扩大出口贸易 。

Xiamen expects new opportunities and challenges in 2001.To meet boost its development,Xiamen should optimize industrial structures,improve economic efficiency,further SOEs strategic adjustment and bring into play their role as the backbone,speed up regional development beyond the island proper in a process to industrialize and urbanize the country areas,promote investment actively to increase Xiamens potental for further development,promote domestic demands and consumption and raise the living standard of the urban and rural residents,expand exports and open up new international markets.
