Concern about population problems among citizens of rich nations generally focuses on rapid population growth in the most poor countries. But in this paper,by analysing the relative impact(as measured by energy consuming flow)on earth's life support systems, the author states a fact which was known by few people:the relatively small population of rich people accounts for roughly two-thirds of global environmental destruction. In 1990,the average energy consum- ing flow of rich nation citizens was 7.4 KW,while in poor nations the value is only 1 KW.In the end,an idea of pro- fessor John P.Holdren for closing the gap is presented.
