The paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the protection system of flood control dyke along river cities now form the visual angle of continuous developing strategy. In the premise of ensuring the basic function of flood control, it emphasizes the superiority of the cities along the river for reasonably using and protecting the natural resources and the natural environment as well as creating the urban images with the features. And it obtains a certain economical benefit. It has an immeasurable reference value for reforming the protection system of flood control dyke of about 70% cities along rivers and developing the areas along rivers.
