Some Ideas on Shortening the Production Cycle of Thematic Maps

提出十项措施探讨发展专题地图生产和解决其生产周期长的问题:①各种规格的标准地理底图形成商品供应;②革新编绘工艺;③发展地图编制特需的工艺材料的生产;④建设适应专题地图生产的制印工厂;⑤研究简便改版工艺;⑥严格制印过程的数据化、科学化管理;⑦保证不同地图的专题“最佳传输”效果;⑧“以丰补歉”,降低成本;⑨专题科研内容分阶段定稿,以减少改版工量;⑩加强为社会各部门的主动服务。

To probe into the development of thematic mapping and the shortening of the long map production cycle,the author puts forward ten measures:1.commercializing the production of standard geographic base maps in various specifications;2.improving the procedure of map compilation;3.developing the materials which are specially needed in map compilation;4.establishing the reproduction and printing houses suitable for the- matic mapping;5.simplifying the process of plate correction;6.strictly observing the technical specifications of reproduction and printing under the scientific management;7. maintaining the“best communication effect”of different thematic maps;8.compensating “losing”maps with“profiting”maps,lowering the cost;9.finalizing the thematic content at different stages of map compilation,reducing the work of plate correction;10.improv- ing the active services for various departments of the whole society.
