This paper discribes a system whioh implements the real-time edge detector with the Sobel operator. The detector is designed to process the TV data at 10MHZ pixels rate, by using pipelined and paralleled calculations to process a 512×290 pixels grey-level image, and needs 20ms. The system is small in size, low in price and practicable in use. It may be used in real-time TV tracing military reconnaissance, and industrail inspection.
