临夏回族村镇经济自明清以来就比较发达，商业经济更具特色，在商贸交往中，对西北和西藏地区的民族经济的发展起了促进作用。面对西部大开发，临夏回族村镇经济应结合当地的实际，调整产业结构，发挥优势，带动整个周边地区少数民族经济的发展。

Villages and small townships of the Hui people in Linxia have ever since the Ming and Qing Dynasties been relatively developed places, particularly distinctive of the development in the commercial economy, and in the couse of the commercial and trade communication, having played a role in promoting the development of national economy in the Northwestern part and the Tibetan area. Confronted with the great development of the Western Regions, the ecnomy in these places should, by means of combining with their own practical conditions and adjusting their industrial structures, bring into play its superiorities and spur on the development of national economy in all their surrounding areas of minority nationalities.
