This is a genral survey article. It reviews the dyes and pigments which were used for ink - jet printing on the paper and cloth and gives a description of the development of dyes and pigments for paper printing aque-sous ink, reactive dyes for ink-jet printing on cellulose, acid dyes for ink-jet printing on silk and disperse dyes for ink-jet printing on polyester. Some of the typical recipes for different kind of inks are presented. And their trend of development in the future are prospected.
