On the Modification of Tone of the Three-Word Phrases In Falling-Rising Tone

传统语音学大多认为 ,上声三字组变调规律单一 ,并不复杂。 2 0世纪 70年代末至 80年代中 ,卢甲文等人先后著文认为并非如此。他们在听辨实验基础上 ,对其异化规律及其成因作了较为详细的描写 ,但分歧不少。语言是“听”的 ,是负载信息的音流。语流音变 ,首先是发音生理之需要使然。上声三字组变调 ,固然与音节间组合格式有关 ,但是决定其变调值域的核心要素 ,并不在这组合格式 ,而是在音节字义间不同的组合层次及其组合关系上 ,同时也与节律协和。

Traditional phonetics predominately believes that the laws to modify tone of the three-word phrases in falling-rising tone are not complex but simple ones. Since the end of 1970's and the mid of 1980's, Mr. Lu Jia-wen and other scholars have published their surveys, refuting on this aspect. Based on the experiments in listening and phonetical identification, they have explained the laws of the dissimilation and the causes in details. But there still differences in views on certain issues between scholars remain. Language is used for listening purposes and is the carrier of information. The modified tone of the three-word phrases in falling-rising tone is first of all conditioned by the physiological factor of vocal cords. It is true that it has something to do with the existence of the group pattern between syllables. However, the core factors determining the value of the register that modifies the tone does not rely on the group pattern but on the level and the relationship between syllables and word connotation, also on rhythm harmony and semantic expression. This coordination is outstanding.
