By investigating and analysing the reasons of pumping well dead, some important factors that cause pumping well dead have been found, it's law was summed up, and the system of pumping well dead forecast is developed. This system directs us to do preventive measures in advance against pumping well dead. As soon as the system is used in Huzhuangji Oilfield, good results are achieved, providing a new way for improving science management level of pumping wells.
