福州西湖宾馆,位于西湖之滨,始建于50年代。其后区,诸多小楼分布于花园之中,是接待高级贵宾之处。然而,多年来没有一个可供举行正式会见等礼宾活动的场所,甚为不便。八号楼——以会见厅为主的综合服务楼应运而生。八号楼设计于1988年,建成于1991年5月18日,面积2000m^2,两层。正中是上下贯通的中庭,楼上是会见厅、会晤兼宴会厅、谈判厅,

This essay elucidates that yardstick, as one of basic factors of architectural design, should be considered not only in narrow sense but also in broad sense. This concept has been used in the design of the Building NO. 8(Meeting Hall) of the Westlake Hotel in Fuzhou,which has just been completed to greet distinguished guests.
