A brief description is made of the 90t CONSTEEL electric arc furnace imported by Shaogang, concerning its advanced processes and technologies, as well as its general layout design. The steel making, con-casting and rolling processes were linked together to form a 'three in one' line by locating the new electric arc furnace adjacent to the existing No.6 rolling mill. A high efficiency and energy_saving, short_distance modernized steel plant was thus constructed, which takes up land of only about 4.6 hectares.
