An amphiphilic bifunctional initiator with an aromatic group, which is used in free radical interfacial copolymerization, ptoluoyl(3carboxypropionyl)sebacoyl diperoxide(MBSD), was synthesized by the successive condensation of sebacoyl chloride with pmethylperoxybenzoic acid and monoperoxysuccinic acid under the catalysis of pyridine and further characterized by IR, 1H NMR, MS, elemental analysis and the analysis of peroxide oxygen content.
