The desulfurized purified water was the ideal desalter feed water if the water quality was controlled to specifications and pH did not exceed 9. It could meet the increasingly stringent environmental requirements. When this water was used in the desalter, the average salt in the desalted oil was 2.17 mg/L, water 0.18%, which were comparable to those of using the fresh water.
