教师专业发展学校是 2 0世纪 80年代中期以来美国教育改革中出现的一种新型学校。作为大学与中小学伙伴关系的产物 ,PDS学校把美国教师教育改革与公立学校的教改紧密联系起来 ,使教师教育质量的改进与中小学教育质量的全面提高形成一种共生的关系 ,其目的在于通过大学培养出更好的教师 。

Professional development school (PDS) is a new type of school during the time of educational reform in the US in the mid-'80s. As a symbol of partnership between institutions of higher learning and middle and primary schools, PDS combined the teacher training reform with the education reform of public schools, promoting the upgrading of teachers skills and the overall education quality of primary and middle schools at the same time. The goal is to train outstanding teachers in collage, so as to run primary and middle schools better.\;
