The working principle and technical characteristics of self made hydraulic props and the calculation formulas for the smallest setting load,the increment of the sustaining vesistance and the rated sastaining resistance which are closely related to the practical application of the prop are presented.Further description is made on the application and testing results of hydraulic prop in the deep well mining of slowly inclined thin ore vein.
