聚醚业胺（PED）是一种易加工，价廉且优良综合性能的新型热性中塑性工程塑料，能用注塑，挤塑等高效的通用设备成型。具有广阔的发展前景。本文介绍美国GE公司开发的聚醚酰亚胺的主要合成路线，系统介绍其机械性能、热性能、电性能及化学性能等，并介绍在运载工具、电气／电子、医疗器械、工业等领域的应用。

Polyetherimide (PEI) is a new type of processable and low-cost engineering thermoplastics, which has good comprehensiveproperties. PEI could be easily processed on efficient conventional injection moulding, extrusion moulding or blow moulding e-quipments, and has a broad developing prospects. The synthetic route for PEI developed by GE Co. is described in this pa-per. The mechanical, thermal, electrical and chemical properties of PEI are systematically introduced, and the application of PEIto transportation, electrical/electronic, medical instruments and other industries are also introduced.
