武湖硅化木的发现与初步研究(英文)

THE DISCOVERY AND STUDY OF THE WUHU SILICIFIED WOOD

本文首次报道了1987年4月硅化木化石在黄陂县武湖的发现,记述了硅化木及其产地的区域地质地层特征;探讨了硅化木的可能归属,时代以及形成过程、搬运营力,并指出硅化木的深入调查研究有助于了解大别山地区自印支运动以来的地质、大地构造,古气候古地理环境演变历史,也有助于探索自中生代以来古植物在该区的演化与分布。

The paper reports for the first time the discovery of the Wuhu silicified wood, describes the features of the fossil wood and the regional strata in which the fossil wood was excavated,then explores its formational processes. It concludes at last that the discovery and further study of the fossil are of great importance.
