The author tries to analyze the factors that restrict the development of libraries in higher schools and expound the trends towards which the libraries in the age of information in higher schools should be developed. It is pointed out that the only way to develop libraries is to take advantage of advanced science and technology and communication technology, optimize the structure of the collection and strengthen the organic combination of librarians and readers.
