An idea of developing heavy and chemical industry in the Pearl River Delta

珠三角是广东经济核心与基地，其产业结构迅速向高层次发展，形成外向型工业体系。本文论述珠三角具有发展重化工业的优势，指出重化工业替代轻工业成为支柱产业是经济高速发展的必然要求。

The Pearl Delta is the key area and base of Guangdongs economy, whose structure of industrial production has been developing rapidly to a high level and becoming an outwardly-oriented industrial system. This paper discusses the advantages of developing heavy and chemical industry in the Peral Delta, points out that heavy and chemical industry would replace light industry as the mainstay industry, and offers the idea that heavy and chemical industry could be distributed mainly in two areas. \ \
