在走向新世纪的历史条件下 ,高校学生思想政治工作面临着新挑战 ,肩负着新使命。因此 ,高校学生思想政治工作要对现实情况与实际工作中各种热点问题进行冷静的哲学思考和论证。面对 7个方面的挑战 ,从江泽民同志“三个代表”要求的高度 ,把握好思想政治工作在高校各项工作中的定位。努力从体制、制度、队伍、载体、导向等方面 ,有机结合、双管齐下 ,从 7个方面展开 ,寻找出面对挑战的思路对策、方法途径 ,培养 2 1世纪所需要的优秀人才。

College ideological and political work is faced with the new task and challenge when new millennium has come. To fulfill the task, we need cool-headed thinking and testification on hot spots of realities and practice of the college ideological and political work. Faced with the seven challenges discussed in this paper, we should precisely locate the work in all collegiate missions from the point of view of Comrade Jiang Zemin's “Three Representations' theory. Factors such as political system, institution, team, carrier and orientation should be organically combined, be made to work along simultaneously. In the light of the seven challenges, we should find out the countermeasures to cultivate talents the 21st century needs.
