Clustering technologies are key tools in enabling business-critical application development on industry-standard PC hardware. Cluster service is the high availability implementation in Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Datacenter Server which makes a group of independent computers to work together to run a common set of applications and provides the image of a single system to the client. The architecture, fail over process, benefit, and defect of cluster service are discussed.
