Having discussed and analyzed the position and function of the individually private economy in the socialist market economy, this paper concludes that it is not only an important part of the socialist market economy but also a new increasing point of productivity. It plays an extremely active part in the stimulation of the interchange of the market, in the promotion of the market development and in the widening of employment channels of both urban and rural areas as well as in the promotion of the social stability. Besides, it is also a catalyst to move foe reform of the state-owned enterprises.
