The Co,Ni,Fe,and Mn in suspended particulate from Changjiang River Estuary were fractionated using Tessier's procedure. The majority of metals except Mn were found to be in residual fraction. The Fe-Mn oxides is the most important carrier for the metals transporting from water column to sediment. The amount of metals bound to Fe-Mn oxides and carbonates are controlled by salinity and pH. The multivariate regression equations were established for the metal fractions and pH, salinity and suspended par-ticulate.
