并行计算机中的网络存储

摘要 大型数据存储系统中有两种体系结构,但前台方案在扩充节点时费用很高,中央处理器成为网络发展的瓶颈。本文介绍另一种方案,即分布式网络存储方案。通过主机中央处理器来控制输入输出,从而充分发挥系统的功能,网络存储应当能够容纳各种类型的磁带机和磁盘设备。对于输入输出接口来说,协议的适用性、带宽、数据传送李、指令集、使用接口的主机和存储备数目、以及软件支持等很重要。 Two alternative architectures are best known in large data archival system. The frontend approach is not readily expandable or cost effective and CPU may easily become a bottleneck for a large archive. This paper examines the second approach,a distributed achive implementation with separate control and data paths. Staging-to-archive device I/O traffic is off loaded from the central host CPUs to dedicated I/O controllers in order to maxindze the system perfomance. An optimal network attached configuration must be scalable and should accornmodate thde heterogeneous tape and disk storage devices. The discriminating factors for the I/O interfaces are as follows the suitability of the interface for staging-to-archive use, the bandwidth,transfer rate,conunand set possibilities offered,the number of host and storage devices making use of the interface,and the existing direct transfer and third party transfer software support.
