On the progress of technology and urban spatial structure innovation

城市空间的形成与变化是特定社会形态的反映 ,而社会形态的形成与技术进步密不可分。技术进步是城市空间发展过程中最为活跃的因素。技术的重大突破导致出现新的社会形态 ,更新了的社会形态为城市空间的创新提供了动力与条件。技术的进步除了因为影响社会形态而促使城市空间结构变化外 ,还直接参与城市空间创新 ,使城市空间在水平与垂直两个方向延伸。

Based upon the analysis of the influence of technology progress on the social patterns, this paper points out a framework of urban spatial theory in which the new social patterns and the new technological innovations are unified. Further discussion focuses on urban spatial structure innovations under the conditions of the specifically social patterns which are formed by the development of technology. Finally, the paper analyzes the present day trend in urban spatial structure evolution, and proposes some specific strategies in the planning of the urban spatial structure which suit the development of society and the progress of technology.
