摘要
分析了模拟调制解调器Modem的缺陷，对正在兴起的数字用户线（digital subscriber line，xDSL）技术做了全面介绍。然后，围绕着提高信噪比及抗干扰能力问题，通过对xDSL中所采用的各技术措施的分析，阐明了用数字信号处理器（DSP）实现的优势。
After briefly explaining the limitations of voiceband Modems, we introduce the emerging xDSL technologies, and then show the advantages of using DSPs for xDSL applications with emphases on the important roles of digital signal processing in improving the signal－to－noise ratio to provide high performances.
