Development of linguistics and philology in the Qing Dyna sty

有清一代260多年间，语言文字学为当时社会意识形态所左右，因此出现清初的“经世致用”之学，乾嘉时代蔚然大观的语言文字学和晚清语言学的新兴部门，表现出语言文字学与社会意识形态的密切关系。

During more than 260 years of the Qing Dynasty, linguistics a nd philol ogy were influenced by the social ideology of its time, a fact underlying the 'social and political pragmatism', the 'prosperity' and the emergence of new lingu istic and philological branches in the early, middle and late Qing Dynasty respe ctively, illustrating the close connection between linguistics, philology and so cial ideology.
