公共揭示语汉译英中存在着诸多错误。这不仅影响译文的质量而且造成许多不应出现的交际问题。文章对部分揭示语典型错误的表现实例进行剖析 ,探讨其产生原因并给出参照译文 。

There exist many different errors in Chinese English translation of placards. These errors not only affect the quality of their translation but also give rise to numerous unexpected problems in communication. The paper attempts to analyze their causes, ways of how to correct them based on some selected typical wrong examples, and also emphasizes the importance of Chinese English placards in allusion to ordinary foreigners in the publicity work.
