Suprasegmental Phoneme. Thematic Meaning. Information Structure

根据Halliday和Quirk等人的有关理论来说明超音段音位与主题意义和信息结构之间的关系,发话者根据交际意图,可对同一话语配置不同的调核、调群、声调等超音段音位来显示信息单元或信息中心,以获取话语的主题意义。

Based on Halliday and Quirk's theory on phonology this paper attempts to explain how suprasegmental phoneme affect thematic meaning and imformation structure. Suprasegmental phoneme (nucleus, tone, tone unit) can be at- tached to the same utterance in different ways according to the speaker's communicative intention in order to show the infor- mation focus and acquire the thematic meaning.
