17、18世纪欧洲和中国的科学关系──以英国皇家学会和在华耶稣会士的交流为例

Sino-European Scientific Relations in 17th-and 18th-Centuries: A Case Study of the Exchange between the Royal Society of London and the Jesuits in China

本文以英国皇家学会的科学活动为研究案例，在分析英国皇家学会图书馆所藏档案、《哲学汇刊》（PhilosophicalTransactions）等杂志所刊文章的基础之上，主要通过来华耶稣会士和英国皇家学会秘书这一中介，来探讨17、18世纪英国皇家学会和中国所建立的科学合作关系，试图从当时的背景下对这种交流关系加以说明，并初步分析英国人对中国科学的看法。

This paper tries to discuss the Chinese-British scientific relations through the Jesuits who went to China in the 17th- and 18th- centuries. As a case study, the author analyses. the exchange between the Royal Society of London and the Jesuits in China in a broader historical context. First it deals with the British scientists and scientific work relating to China through the. Jesuits. Secondly it discusses the roles of the secretaries of the Royal Society of London, the establishment and development of the correspondence system between the Royal Society and the Jesuits. Thirdly it analyses the scientifc archives which are still kept at the Library of the Royal Society of London. Fourthly analyses the articles published in:the Philosophical Transactions,especially those on the scientific investigations made in China and the British views of Chinese science. Lastly it gives a conclusion relating to the context of scientific exchange between China and Britain.
