A method, by which the altitude information of measuring points can be extracted from the underwater topographic map, is presented based on the feature analysis method. The present method is to determine the processes and parameters for the processing of altitude information according to the feature of the point. An algorithm is proposed for the processing of the 1: 2000 map and the joints between symbols and lines.
