中国历史上的爱国主义混融着浓厚的民族情感 ,是同爱民族密切相联系在一起的。科学地分析爱民族与爱国家的复杂关系 ,并对之作出唯物而辩证的阐释与评价 ,有助于爱国主义传统的弘扬与光大。在当代中国 ,只有中华各民族的精诚团结和携手共进 ,才是爱国主义的应有内涵。因此 ,我们在对待中国历史上爱国主义和民族情感和复杂关系时 ,必须坚持马克思主义历史分析与阶级分析相结合、批判与继承相结合的方法 ,注重吸收其中有益的精神财富 ,剔除其狭隘民族主义的成分 ,并结合当代中国建设和发展的大势 ,推陈出新 。

In Chinese history, patriotism is always mixed with strong love of nations. Scientific analysis, materialistic and dialectical elucidation and evaluation of the complicated relationships between love of nations and that of the country are helpful to carrying forward and developing the patriotic tradition. In China today, patriotism means that Chinese nations should unite together with all the faith and dedication and advance side by side. Therefore, in dealing with Chinese historical complicated relationships between patriotism and national sensibility we should adopt the approach of combining Marxist historical analysis with class analysis, criticism with inheritance to take in constructive ideas and eliminate the elements of ultranationalism. Under the current situations of Chinese construction and development, we should get rid of the stale and bring forth the fresh to promote prosperity of the Chinese Nation.
