On the Attitude Towards Life and the Consciousness of Life of the Writers of the May 4th Movement

在现实人生的重重困压下 ,“五四”作家理想主义的乐观转瞬即逝。他们从对人生的失望坠入悲观乃至绝望 ,这种情绪影响了他们对自我人生的把握。在对生命意义和生存价值的反复思考中 ,“五四”作家毅然打破了“苟活”的古训 ,大大加重了生死天平上个人自主权利和人格尊严的分量 ,表现出“五四”作家对个人价值特别的珍视。

Under the heavy pressure of realistic life, writers during the May 4th Movement did not have the optimism idealism long. They completely lost themselves in disappointment and abandoned themselves to pessimism and even despair. Such emotions influenced their grasp of their self life. In their reflections of the meaning of life and survival, the May 4th writers resolutely broke the traditional idea of 'living on in degradation', and gave weight to the individual right of independence and personal dignity on the scale of life, expressing their treasure for individual values.
