摘要
本文探讨了盖里新作EIMP中的技术与艺术问题。其中技术问题包括功能分区,材料运用、结构方法和设计过程中的计算机应用;艺术问题包后形象来源,形式的象征意义和EMP在当代建筑艺术实践中的创新之处。某些对于建筑这一职业有基础意义的问题,如当代建筑师的合法职责.也在文中有所涉及。本文认为EMP从不同方面综合反映了当代美国的社会现状,其高度发达的技术被用来为实现一个建筑中的原始形象服务。
This paper deals with the technological and artistic issues raised by the newly finished Experience Music Project(EMP) in Seattle by Frank Gehry. the technological issues include the arrangement of functions, the use of materials, the construction method. and the application of computer in the process of design, the artistic issues include the sources of the images. the symbolic meanings of foe forms, and the innovations of EMP in the context of the contemporary architectural practice. Some fundamental questions in the architectural profession, like 'What on architect Should be! ' are also discussed, The article concludes that EMP comprehensively reflects the contemporary American society in many ways and the advanced technology is employed in EMP to achieve a primitive image.
