SSD-MAN B&W 5S42MC MK7 low-speed diesel engine is a type newly designed by MAN B&W, and the 1stprototype worldwide of this engine model has been built up by Shanghai Hudong Heavy Machinery Shangchuan DieselCo. Ltd. In this paper, the design feature, main technical parameters and the process of manufacture of the engine areexpounded, and more detailed illustration is made of the technical progression in building drawing optimization, techno-logical design, stand test and other activities relevant to the advanced development of this new engine.
