This paper reviews the important roles of yak production in developing economy of minority nationality arias in Sichuan province .Basing on the analysis of current yak husbandry and the limitations for yak improvement by selection and for yak industry,it suggests the approaches tor enhancing yak selection and establishing yak breeding system.
