Electophilic reaction of 2 naphthol and 1 bromo 2 naphthol with allantoin in the presence of acid afforded 5 (2′ hydroxy 1′ naphthyl)hydantoin and 5 (5′ bromo 6′ hydroxy 2′ naphthyl)hydantoin in 81.8% and 52.3%, respectively.
