20世纪初的中国灾难深重 ,民不聊生。探寻民族振兴之路的先进知识分子 ,以陈独秀为代表打出了民主和科学两面旗帜 ,并认定只有这两位先生 ,可以救中国于恶暗。然而 ,第一次世界大战所暴露出的帝国主义强盗行径 ,引发了先辈们对西方民主的怀疑。经过五四战斗洗礼的具有初步共产主义思想的先进分子 ,从马克思主义的传播中获得了精神的利器 ,从工人阶级的奋斗中得到了物质的力量 ,转而抛弃资产阶级的建国方案 ,选择社会主义民主道路。抓住这条认识线索 ,把握陈独秀等人在思想理论上的逻辑发展 ,是解读创党必然性的一把钥匙。

Early in the 20th century,China was disaster-ridden,the peo pl e had no means of livelihood. Chen Duxiu,who was the representative figure of th e advanced intellectual exploring the way of national rejuvenation,hold two bann ers of democracy and science. He maintained that only the two sirs could save Ch ina from evil darkness. But the banditry of imperialism in the First World War a roused the elder generation from suspicion of western democracy. The advanced el ements who had the tentative communist ideas after the May 4th Movement,gained t he sharp weapons of spirit from the propaganda of Marxism,received the material sterial strength from the struggles of the working class,thus discarded the cons tructive scheme of the capitalist class for our country,selected the way of soci alist democracy. In charge of the thread of understanding,grasping the logical d evelopment in terms of thought and theory of Chen Duxiu and so on,is the key to analyse the necessity of founding the Party.
