The organic intermediate 1,3,5 trimethoxybenzene was prepared from 1,3,5 tribromobenzene in yield as high as 92.3%. The methoxylation reaction was carried out with dimethylformamide (DMF) and methanol as solvent, sodium methoxide as methoxylation agent and cuprous chloride as catalyst. The reaction conditions were: molar ratio of sodium methoxide/1,3,5 tribromobenzene was 6, volume ratio of DMF/methanol was 2.5, reaction time was 6 h.
