China is rich in geological legacy, of which exploitation and development is on a low level along with a serious wastage and destruction. To realize effective protection and sustainable utilization of geological legacy in the development, it is necessary to foster the whole nation's awareness of the problem of geological legacy, to establish and perfect the market system of geological legacy, to bring into play the basic function of the market in resource allocation as well as the macro regulating function of the government, and to enhance the direction and administration of governments of different levels in the protection and rational utilization of geological legacy.
