Telecom Vision in the New Century

In the recent 15 years or so, the telecom development outpaced the past 100 years. With such a quick rate of development, the bright future of the telecom world can be imagined. In the future, every corner of the world will be linked by all-optical networks; the market will be filled with personalized services; the mobile telephone will become people's network companion; an abundance of bandwidth will provide more services and applications. But then, the mobile communication service is likely to become the 'tobacco industry' in the new century and people may well face another round of choice in an environment of IP dominated networks.
