人民代表大会制度是我国的根本政治制度。中华人民共和国的一切权力属于人民 ;人民行使国家权力的机关是人民代表大会和地方各级人民代表大会。人民代表大会的组织形式和基本原则经历了历史的考验 ,而获得丰富和发展。特别是其中关于公民依法直接管理国家各项事务才能使自己的各项权利得到保障的思想日益深入人心。在新的世纪里 ,随着政治体制改革的深入发展 ,人民代表大会制度将日益完善 ,在加强社会主义民主与法制的道路上必将有巨大创新 ,显示出其无比优势。

The system of the people's representative congress is the essential political system of China. Its organization pattern and basic principles have stood the test in history and have been enriched and developed. The particularly concerned concept——that only when citizens participate directly in running the country in all walks of life can they protect all of their own rights——has been more and more deeply understood by the people. With the continuous reforms in the political aspect, the system of the people's representative congress can be further improved and new achievements will be made by strengthening socialist democracy and laws. As a consequence, its advantages will be demonstrated.
